How to add an Organization?

How do I add Arianne and HIS e. G. as organizations? It's not even possible to enter them as affiliation on contributions anymore because the input field was changed into a drop down list box.

I'm also surprised that the GNU Project and/or the Free Software Foundation is not in the list of organizations. I'd like to add them, and associate them with the official GNU projects. How can I do this?

Also interested in how to add organisaions, and also how to claim existing ones. We think our organisation is in the list, but nobody knows if it is our org, if so, how it got there, or how we can manage it. If it is us, our name in the dropdown is showing incorrectly as per our branding so this is important to us.

Thanks,
Melissa.

Comments: Hi,
I'm a Chartered Member of OSGeo Foundation (http://osgeo.org)

and we would like to add OSGeo to the organizations at Ohloh.
I tried to find how to do it, but there seems to be no mechanism for that.
So, I search the forums to learn how to do it and there seem to be no answered

thread with exaplantion.
The main thread about organization is this https://www.ohloh.net/forums/11/topics/8043
but without answers provided.
How can I add our organization at Ohloh?

Thanks,
Mat

All,

Since the Organizations feature is still in beta we are currently looking at the best way to implement it for the future. Currently organization creation is an administrative function and the 26 organizations are largely proofs-of-concept. We generally want an involved, committed manager community that will add the projects to the org structure independently. For now the orgs that get created are somewhat arbitrary and will be more open as we move to general release of this feature. You may all e-mail me with your requests or leave them here in this thread.

In particular, Melissa, please let me know what organization you have questions about. You should be able to see the manager for the org if there is one.

Mark, I am also surprised that the GNU ecosystem isn't represented. Probably nobody has yet expressed an interest.

Thanks!

I'd like to see the MetaBrainz Foundation added to the list of organisations, the foundation behind MusicBrainz.

Hi Ssnow-blackduck,

I eventually got a response to the query which I sent to the generic contact form (after this thread was not answered). So it's all sorted now, thank you.

Has this ever been sorted out? I would like to add The Veloz Group as an organization. Our company sponsors several open source projects including Flyspray

Thanks,
Jordan

Are there any news? Now there is even a badge for organizations. But I was still not able to create HIS e. G. (projects: eclipse-macker, plugfy, ecl1 ...) and Arianne (projects: Stendhal, Marauroa, Marboard, ...)

I wanted to inquire to see if you were still taking additions to the organization beta page? I wanted to suggest Appnovation Technologies be included on your list. Appnovation specializes in developing web, intranet, and mobile applications using open source technologies. They've worked with such companies as MTV, the NBA, Google, Stanford, World Wildlife Fund, The Canadian Cancer Society, and the University of Washington.

Kevin,

I'm glad to entertain the notion of an orgnization for Appnovation Technologies. I'll take this off-line and drop you an e-mail to discuss it.

Thanks!

Fantastic my friend, awaiting your email!

I'd like to see Nginx, Inc. in the list.

Thanks.

I'd like to see Kendra Initiative. Cheers Daniel

Daniel,

I'd be glad to create that organization but I haven't actually found any code but only interesting planning. Can you suggest a place where I can find appropriate code for any of their initiatives? We do seem to have a few Kendra-related ohloh projects but precious few of them have any enlistments at all...

Let me know...

Thanks!

ssnow-blackduck over 10 years ago

Daniel,

Created the organization at https://www.ohloh.net/orgs/Kendra_Initiative and have made you the initial manager. I fleshed out four likely projects and added them to the org. You can change any of the variables on the org and apply as manager to any of the projects or designate someone else in the organization to be manager or co-manager of the projects or the organization. I will send this as an e-mail as well. If you have any questions, please contact me here or via e-mail.

Thanks!

@ssnow-blackduck,

Would you be willing to make an organization for Asciidoctor [1] named asciidoctor. I'm a long time user of ohloh and an administrator for the Arquillian organization. Asciidoctor has grown a lot lately and has many projects that show up on ohloh. The information I could get from having an ohloh organization would really help me to manage the growing community.

Thanks!

Dan,

I'll take it under consideration. The current concept of an organization for ohloh is those who directly sponsor development of open-source projects. You have probably already seen examples of these organizations at https://www.ohloh.net/orgs

I will need to do some research to determine the type of organization and look for some statement of purpose (I think I have already found that...)

Standby.

Thanks! For what it's worth, my company, OpenDevise, sponsors the development of Asciidoctor. I created that company to a) eat, and b) keep the Asciidoctor ecosystem growing.

Dan Allen over 10 years ago

Dan,

I thank you for getting the ball rolling. If you want to associate the company with the org, you have full power to make any changes necessary. I'd probably just add a mention of them to the summary like Powered by OpenDevise etc.

You're off and running. The updates for the org are on a different schedule than the ones on a project and I think are analyzed late night (I think!)

Thanks!

Hi, Can you please create an organization for Yellowen which is responsible directly for developing bunch of free softwares ?

Sameer Rahmani over 10 years ago

Sameer,

The current concept of an organization for ohloh is those who directly sponsor development of open-source projects. You have probably already seen examples of these organizations at https://www.ohloh.net/orgs. From what you say, it looks as if you qualify. Could you provide me with a URL for the organization as a whole or better, an address for the section of your website discussing your open-source philosophy or an about page?

Could you also give me a few examples of ohloh projects that should be included in an ohloh Organization for Yellowen or possibly some open-source projects that Yellowen sponsors that
haven't landed here at ohloh yet?

Thanks!

ssnow-blackduck over 10 years ago

Sameer,

Have created the organization. See: https://www.ohloh.net/orgs/Yellowen You are free to change any of the early presumptions to ones you are comfortable with. I presumed you were a for-profit organization from the nature of the comments on your site but feel free to change this if a different designation is more appropriate. I have made you manager. I have also added four of the projects you mentioned on the site though I am sure there are more on ohloh and probably still more which may not be on ohloh yet. Please be aware that analysis of the claimed projects into the organization's statistics takes place on a different schedule (I think nightly?).

Thanks!
